Joyce Leone Anderson was born December 26, 1918 in Huron, S.D., the oldest of four daughters to Fred W. and Sarah (Baker) Anderson. As a small child, she moved with her parents to Wolsey in the fall of 1920. She attended Wolsey Public School for 12 years and graduated from there in 1937. She married Tilman Christopherson on April 23, 1939. they moved to a farm n south Hand County. To this union five children were born. After her children were raised, she moved to Miller where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. As a member, she spent many hours sewing mission quilts. This project gave her much happiness. This past year she sewed 104 quilt tops. Survivors include three sons, Edwin (Marcene), Burle and Randy (Mary) Christopherson all of Miller; one daughter, Wava Stevens of Letcher; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle Leisy, Nicole Christopherson, Dawn Engelmann, Bonita Ariz, Valorie Maher, Denise Ballinger, LaVerne, Burle Jr., Timothy, Matthew, Mark and Michael Christopherson, and Thad Stevens; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Cogswell of Aberdeen, Fay Nettinga of Wolsey and Jackie Scheibe of Huron. She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son, Noel Tim.
