Services will be at noon Saturday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion with the Rev. Stan Schmit officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Sock was born on March 9, 1949, at Genoa to Alex and Josephine (Borowiak) Bialas. She married James B. Sock on Sept. 21, 1968, at Clarks. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shelli and Tim Cornwell of Genoa, Cathy and Casey Garrod of Norfolk and Shari Sock and her fiancé, Bob Dugger, of Cedar Rapids; one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Penny Sock of Eddyville; 16 grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Leonard Brezenski of Columbus. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. She went to country school in Nance County north of Clarks and graduated from Clarks High School in 1967. Joyce and James farmed southeast of Genoa until 1983 and moved to Fullerton in the spring of 1984, where Joyce worked at Len and Joe’s Market and Dr. Daniel Maas’ dental office. In 1986, they moved to Albion, and Joyce was employed with Farm Bureau and later Jeff Sherwood’s Computer Service. She began working at the Boone County assessor’s office on Jan. 11, 1990, and was elected as Boone County assessor, serving from 1999 until her death. Joyce was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved Polish music, quilting, her grandchildren and her dog, Chelsey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Josephine Bialas.
