Description	:	Joyce Margaret Gardner was born on November 22, 1919 in Kenmare, North Dakota. She was the fourth of six children born to Timothy & Julia Olgina (Hillestad) Gardner. She was raised in Kenmare where she graduated from Kenmare High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to William Marshall “Bill” Cyrus on October 10, 1939 at Kenmare. They made their home in Donnybrook where he owned a garage and worked as an automobile mechanic. Bill entered military service during World War II and served from 1942-1945. Joyce worked for several years as a telephone operator on the main switchboard... Read More	Joyce Margaret Gardner was born on November 22, 1919 in Kenmare, North Dakota. She was the fourth of six children born to Timothy & Julia Olgina (Hillestad) Gardner. She was raised in Kenmare where she graduated from Kenmare High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to William Marshall “Bill” Cyrus on October 10, 1939 at Kenmare. They made their home in Donnybrook where he owned a garage and worked as an automobile mechanic. Bill entered military service during World War II and served from 1942-1945. Joyce worked for several years as a telephone operator on the main switchboard in Kenmare and they lived in Kenmare. In June 30, 1956 they purchased the Kenmare Theater and took over management on October 1, 1956. They continued in this business until their retirement when they sold the Theater to Fred & Edna Rude on June 1, 1972.. Joyce lost her beloved husband, with his death occurring on March 28, 1990. She continued to make her home in Kenmare where she was actively involved as a volunteer at the Kenmare Senior Citizens Center for many years. Later years she made her home in Minot. Joyce died on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, just eighteen days from her 101th Birthday. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant sibling, and brothers, Orville, Vernon and Wilbur as well as Bill’s siblings. She is survived by one brother Don Gardner of Mesa, AZ. Thompson Larson Funeral Home of Kenmare is in charge of arrangements. There will be no funeral services and burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Kenmare beside her beloved Bill. Submitted by John Mogren
