Read More	Joyce Maxine Swoveland was born on September 2, 1923, in Stony Creek, Henry Co., Indiana. She married Thomas Paul MURRAY on May 16, 1942, in Indiana. They had three children during their marriage. She died on December 28, 2017, in Wayne Co., Indiana, at the age of 94. --------- Joyce Maxine Murray, 94, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Ambassador Health Care, Connersville, where she had resided for the past few years. She was born in Henry County on September 2, 1923 to Vaughn Daniel and Iva Lou (Downing) Swoveland. She lived most of her life in the Hagerstown area and had resided in Losantville and Modoc. Joyce was a 1941 graduate of Hagerstown High School and was a retired employee of Perfect Circle/Dana Corp. She enjoyed sewing, reading and walking. Survivors include three children, Marilyn Scott of Green Valley, AZ, Thomas Murray (Jana) and Richard Murray (Rosetta), both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Mary Lou Beeson of Losantville and John Swoveland of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Murray, in 1998; three siblings, Shirley Jean Murray, Keith Swoveland and Delores Johnson; and a son-in-law, John Scott. Services were Wednesday, January 3, at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Pastor Paul Gearhardt officiated with burial in West Lawn Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Ambassador Health Care for the care given to Joyce over the past years. Memorials may be made to Hagerstown-Jefferson Twp. Public Library, Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society.
