Joyce was born on February 8, 1932, in Hartland, Maine, a daughter of Emerson and Iva (Dickinson) Pelkie. She graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1950. She married Arnold Halford in 1951 and they shared 31 years of marriage. Joyce was born on February 8, 1932, in Hartland, Maine, a daughter of Emerson and Iva (Dickinson) Pelkie. She graduated from Hartland Academy with the class of 1950. She married Arnold Halford in 1951 and they shared 31 years of marriage. From her teen years to her mid 30's, she worked for the Baxter-Snowflake Canning Company and was actually entrusted with the original recipe to make their dried potato flakes. She was the "Avon Lady" of Hartland and Athens selling their products for 49 years. She also served Hartland as the town clerk for 17 years. Joyce was a sweet, kind and loving wife, mom and mamie. Family was her life. She had a strong faith in God and enjoyed singing in the local church. A very talented seamstress, she made both prom and wedding dresses. Making applesauce, composting and anything to do with animals and farming were some of her hobbies. Easter and Christmas traditions are precious family memories. She was community minded and supported the holiday fund, the Tri Town Food Cupboard and various school fundraisers. She is survived by her three daughters: Susan Faloon and husband Randy, Stacy Halford and husband Kevin Burnham, and Stefne Kuespert and husband Tim; grandchildren: Arlen Faloon, John Faloon, Kyle Halford and wife Hillary, Michael Burnham, Amanda Emery and husband Don, and Kendra Davis; great grandchildren: Serenity, Azayah, Travis, Alannah, Alesha, Dontae, Callie, Ethan, Autumn, Alexis and Harper; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Albert Ordway; loving husband Arnold Halford; and nine siblings. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 3, at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, Hartland, with Glenn Nichols officiating.
