"Nita" passed away peacefully on a lovely autumn morning, October 4, 2010. Nita was one of ten children born to the Wagoners and the last one to be greeted into Heaven by her family. She loved the outdoors and especially loved living in Anchorage, AK with her husband, Chuck, for over 30 years. One of their unforgettable adventures in Alaska was living at Cooper Landing, in a small cozy cabin on the Kenai River. While there, they had a daily visitor, her friend, The MOOSE, with whom she didn't mind sharing her garden of veggies and flowers. The National Geographic Magazine had an article and pictures about their life and adventures in the last wild frontier. Later, they built a log cabin at Crosswinds Lake, near Tolsona, AK, to fish, hunt and trap. Many friends and relatives loved visiting them at the lake, even though the only way in was by float or ski plane or 23 miles in on a snow machine. Nita was an avid gardener. She shared her bounty of lovely flowers with family and co-workers at the Anchorage Post Office, where she worked for almost all of the 30 years they lived in Alaska. In 1973, they both retired and moved from their beloved Alaska to Sequim, WA until Chuck's death in 1976, she then moved to East Wenatchee to be near her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Here, she had many family Thanksgivings and her unforgettable large family breakfasts, serving her famous sourdough pancakes. Cooking was another passion she shared with family and friends and with Dave Knowles, her dear friend. Survivors are son, Micheal Gillem of San Jose, CA; granddaughter, Stephanie Vincent; nephew and wife, Louie and Judy Wagoner; sisters-in-law, Betty and Barbara Wagoner; many nephews and nieces; and great-nephews and nieces, all of whom she loved dearly. Juanita was preceded in death by husband, Chuck; parents, Cora and Chauncey; and sons, John and Louis Vincent. Also by brothers, Harold, Everett, Warren, Louis and Bill; and sisters, Blanche (Fahe), Mabel (Howden), Helen (Eiffert) and Lula (Platz). Services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at 1:00 p.m., at Ward's Funeral Chapel, 303 Pine Street, Leavenworth, WA. Following will be a time of Remembrance and sharing with family and friends at Icicle Ridge Winery, North Road in Peshastin. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
