Description	:	SPALDING — Jude Ann Langer, 80, of Spalding passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at CHI Health St. Francis Skilled Nursing Unit in Grand Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael’s Church in Spalding, with the Rev. Antony Thekkekara officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Langer was born June 11, 1935, at Omaha to Louis and Katherine (McGovern) Vandenberg. She was baptized at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding, and graduated from Spalding Academy in 1953. Following her graduation, Jude attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Jude married Andrew J. Valasek in Lincoln, and following their marriage the couple resided in Spalding. To this union 10 children were born, Victoria, Maggie, Kathy, John, Loretta, Jim, Rita, Ann, Mary, and Denise. On Dec. 10, 1993, Jude married Vincent A. Langer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding. The couple continued to live in Spalding where Jude worked as a nurse’s aid at the Spalding hospital. Jude also worked later as a home health care aid and sold Avon makeup products. Jude was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church her entire life and also was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society. She had a special interest in horses and was also particularly good at swimming and ice skating. Jude is survived by her husband, Vincent of Spalding; children: Victoria Cook of Havelock, N.C., Maggie Lee of Pleasant Hope, Mo., Kathy Valasek of Grand Island, John Valasek of Anchorage, Alaska, Loretta Asche of Malcom, Jim Valasek of Spalding, Rita Hellbusch of Fullerton, and Ann Peterson of Charlotte, N.C.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew J. Valasek in 1973; and two daughters, Mary Valasek Koenig and Denise Valasek.
