Foster Is Called By Death Succumbs To Long Illness At Home Near Calmer Thursday Morning. Judge Robert Frank Foster, aged 79 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T. Norton, near Calmer Thursday morning at 8:45 o'clock following a long period of ill health. His death brings to a close a long career of public service and interest in public and political affairs of the county and state. A practicing attorney since young manhood, Judge Foster's public service began as representative from this county (then Dorsey) in 1883. He was again elected to represent the county in 1887, 1893 and 1895. In 1899 he was representative from Jefferson county where he was living at the time and was elected to the same post again from this county in 1907. He served as county judge from 1926 to 1927 and was not a candidate for re-election at the expiration of his term. He was a member of the Capitol Commission that was in charge of construction of the present state house, having been named to that position by former Governor Geo. W. Donaghey. He represented this county in the Constitutional convention in 1918, having been elected at a special election. Judge Foster was loyal to his friends, firm in his convictions and had many friends in all sections of the state. He was born in Drew county but moved to this county when a young man. For many years he operated a large form near mt. Elba. Disposing of his property there a number of years ago, he lived in Florida for a few years returning here about 14 years ago. Complying with a request made by the Judge, funeral services were conducted at Greenwood cemetery here Friday morning by three of his fellow bar members, Representative Geo. F. Brown of this city, Attorney R.W. Wilson and Judge W. B. Sorrells of pine Bluff, all of whom spoke tenderly of the years of their acquaintance and paid a tribute to the honesty, faithfulness and loyalty of their departed friend. He was affiliated with the Unitarian church. Interment was in the family lot beside his wife who died four years ago. Surviving him are one brother, C.A. Foster of Rison; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Rogers of Little Rock; two sons, Ben and Cleve Foster of Goose Creek, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Porter Case of Pine Bluff, Mrs. W.T. Norton of Calmer and Miss Mamie Foster of Dallas, Texas; and a large number of grandchildren.
