Funeral services were held Monday. The deceased had been in good health until a few weeks ago. She later became worse and was taken to the Oshkosh hospital where she spent her remaining days. She was born Judith Ann Crawford, daughter of William and Rebecca Crawford in Crawford County, Kentucky December 31, 1869. [Editor: it should be noted that there is no Crawford County in Kentucky.] She grew to young womanhood in Kentucky attending the schools of Crawford county. On September 1, 1887 she united in marriage to Henry L. Wells at Gum Sulphur, Kentucky. To this union six child ren were born, their only son, Jack, passing away early in life. In April of 1911 Mr. and Mrs. Wells and their family came to Nebraska. They homesteaded on a ranch 20 miles north east of Oshkosh where they continued to make their home until they sold the ranch on June 29, 1939. After disposing of their ranch property the family moved to Oshkosh. Mr. Wells passed away in 1944 and Mrs. Wells continued living in the home they had bought in Oshkosh. In early life Mrs. Wells joined the Christian church. In 1922 she united with the Methodist church in Oshkosh and remained loyal to that faith being a devout and faithful member. She was active in church work throughout her life and only in the last few weeks of her illness was she unable to attend. She was a Past Noble Grand in the Oshkosh Rebekah lodge and was also a charter member of the local lodge. Surviving are: five daughters; Mrs. Myrtle Shryock of Underwood, Indiana, Mrs. Kate Taylor of Lewellen, Mrs. Fannie Ross and Mrs. Judith Davidson of Oshkosh and Mrs. Henri Musolf of Kimball; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grand-children; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. W. Michel Monday afternoon in the Wright Funeral home. Interment was made in the Ash Hollow cemetery at Lewellen beside her husband.
