As a boy of 10 years he moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky. He was united in marriage at Gum Sulphur, Ky., to Judith A. Crawford, on September 1, 1887. To this union six children were born, one son, Jack, proceeding him in death. As a boy of 10 years he moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky. He was united in marriage at Gum Sulphur, Ky., to Judith A. Crawford, on September 1, 1887. To this union six children were born, one son, Jack, proceeding him in death. In April of the year 1911, he brought his family vest and homesteaded 20 miles northeast of Oshkosh in Garden county, Nebraska. Here he made his home until June 29, 1939 when, owing to failing health, he sold his ranch and with his wife he moved to Oshkosh, where he lived until his passing, April 17, 1944. He had attained the ripe old age of 77 years, 7 months and 19 days. Seven years ago he was stricken with paralysis. He was a patient sufferer, a faithful husband and loving father. In early life he became a member of the Christian church and was an Elder in this church until he came out west. In later years he united with the Methodist church in Oshkosh. He was a charter member of the Model Rebekah Lodge No. 389 of Oshkosh, Nebr., and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for nearly 50 years. He was one of the few remaining members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Ash Hollow Lodge No. 402. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Judith Wells, five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Shryock of Underwood, Ind., Mrs. Kate Taylor of Lewellen, Nebraska, Mrs. Fanny Ross, Mrs. Judith Davidson and Mrs. Henri Musolf of Oshkosh; fifteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
