Judy was born on May 6, 1943, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Edna (Korte) Geweke. Judy was baptized on June 6, 1943, at her grandparent's home in Waverly and confirmed on January 19, 1962, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. Judy attended the Waverly-Shell Rock School System – Class of 1961. On February 14, 1961, Judy was united in marriage to Ernest "Ernie" Gabe at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Waverly where they raised their 3 sons, Steven, Brian and Michael. After the children were grown, Judy worked with her husband Ernie as the bookkeeper for Ernie's Auto Shop from 1985 until 2007 when they retired. Judy was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly. She loved all kinds of music and was so talented she could listen to a song and then play it by ear. Judy also enjoyed dancing and had a talent for interior decorating. But most of all she dearly loved spending time with children, especially her grand and great grandchildren. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Ernie of Waverly; her three sons, Steven Gabe of Waverly, Brian Gabe of Waverly, Michael and Cindy Gabe of Shell Rock; two grandchildren, Alysia (Aaron) Countryman, Travis Gabe; two great grandchildren, Chase and Channing Countryman; and two brothers and their wives, Robert (Beverly) Hansen of Cedar Falls, Bruce (Sally) Geweke of Shell Rock. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Edna in 1970, and her father, Edwin in 1990. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly with Rev. Keith Brustuen officiating. Burial will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
