Florida Times Union, Mar 19 2011 Judith Faye Padgett went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2011 succumbing to breast cancer at the age of 69. She was born to Harley and Beatrice Cain Higginbotham on October 11, 1941 in Duval County, FL. Judy was raised in Baldwin, FL and lived in Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her husband of 20 years, Marcus Padgett. Judy and Marcus were involved in establishing Charity Children's Home in Mexico in 1974 under Charity Baptist Mission, Inc. and the late Rev. Fred Potter of Brookside Baptist Church in Bristol, TN. As a missionary, she remained faithful to the home after the passing of her husband in 1991 until her passing. Judy is survived by her children; sons, Tommy Owens (Beth) and Timmy Padgett (Leah); daughter, Beatriz "Talitha" Padgett Owens (Hampton); grandchildren, Ashley Johnson (Cody), Tyler Owens (Nichole), Dakota Padgett, Tristan Padgett, Makaylie Padgett, Makenna Owens, Neriah Owens and Joshua Moncrief; great-grandchild, Canon Johnson; siblings, Harley Higginbotham, Jr. (Shirley), Johnny Higginbotham (Noma), Hazel Sellers and Edward Higginbotham; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Promise Land Baptist Church, 2197 Blair Rd., Jacksonville with Rev. Steve Whitcomb and Rev. Donnie Williams, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1 PM at the church. Interment will follow in Nolan Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may make donations to the Charity Children's Home-Mexico, PO Box 692, Bristol, TN 37621-0692. Arrangements by Giddens-Reed Funeral Home.
