She was born in Spottswood, Va. on May 6, 1930, a daughter of Gordon B. and Ritter Alexander Ramsey. She was a graduate of Spottswood High School in Spottswood, Va., Madison College, and Tripler Army Hospital School of Medical Technology in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was a graduate of Spottswood High School in Spottswood, Va., Madison College, and Tripler Army Hospital School of Medical Technology in Honolulu, Hawaii. Before retiring from University of Virginia Hospital as Chief Medical Technologist at the former Blue Ridge Hospital, Mrs. Hoffman was employed by King's Daughters' Hospital in Staunton, and numerous other hospitals. After retiring, she worked part-time with ERA Realty Company in Charlottesville. Her professional affiliations include American Society of Medical Technologists, American Soc. of Clinical Pathologists, American Soc. for Microbiology and Virginia Society for Medical Technology. She was member of Mt Carmel Presbyterian Church and attended First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Helen C. Ramsey of Staunton; two nephews, Ronald W. Ramsey and Gary A. Ramsey; and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Granville, and a sister, Shirley. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Steeles Tavern, Va. by the Revs. M. Kerry Foster and Herbert T. Lewis. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Gorden, Cecil Layman, R. Eugene Ramsey, Frank E. Harris, James Ramsey, Charles Hockman and Woodie Cason. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5:00 Sunday after noon at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister-in-law, Helen Ramsey, 422 Windemere Drive, Staunton. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staffs of Martha Jefferson Hospital, University of Virginia Hospital (5th floor), Trinity Nursing Home, all in Charlottesville, and to Oak Hill Center in Staunton, for their loving and gentle care during the past months. The family also extends sincere appreciation to Mrs. Lillian Leno of Louisa for her faithful care and concern for Judith and her "feline family."
