Description	:	Jules F. "Brownie" Bay, 91, of Sioux City passed away on Tues., 10 July 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Mon., 16 July, at the Cathedral of the Epiphany Parish St. Boniface worship site. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sun., 15 July, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. & a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jules was born 25 Mat. 1927 in Akron, Iowa,the son of Axel & Margaret (Gleason) Bay. He graduated from Akron High School. After working for a short time, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Montrose. He married Darlene B. Higgins on 18 Apr. 1949 in Sioux City. They had 65 years together. Brownie & Darlene loved to go dancing at the Eagles Club & cut the rug almost every weekend. He worked for the Sioux City Fire Dept. for 18 years before retiring due to injuries. After retirement, he worked for Schoenman's Lumber & had several odd jobs. He was a long time member of St. Boniface Church. He enjoyed working Sun. night bingo games, playing cards & spending time with his family & friends visiting & creating new memories. But most of all, Family held a special place in his heart; his boys & their wives, grandkids & great grandkids. Jules is survived by 4 sons, Douglas (Denise) Bay, Timothy (Kathy) Bay, Larry (Joanne) Bay, all of Sioux City & Gregory (Barbara) Bay of Elkhorn, NE.; 1 sister, Claire Thuringer of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Curt Hansen of LeMars, IA.; sister-in-law, Shirley Lael of Hawarden, IA. & several nieces & nephews. Jules was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; son, Ronald; 5 brothers; 2 sisters & a grandson, Tyler. source: Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel
