CANFIELD DIES SUDDENLY while in the best of health Mrs. Justus Canfield was stricken with apoplexy at 8:30 Saturday night and died this morning at 6 O'clock at her home over 126 West main Street. Mrs Canfield had gone down the street to the grocery store to make some purchases Saturday night and upon retruning to her room complained to her husband of a pain in her left temple. She got a bottle of camphor thinking that it would ease the pain and as she placed the bottle to her nose she fell to the floor unconscious. A... Read More	MRS. A physican was summoned and pronounced the illness due to apoplexy. Mrs Canfield died without regaining consciousness. Mrs canfield was born Julia A. Bibb, July 1, 1838 at Amhert Va. She came to Iowa with her parents, William H. and Jane (Pryor) Bibb.In 1856 and after remaining a year in Blue Grass, Scott Co. Iowa, came to Marshalltown.(Julia Father was William H Bibb He was a Baptist Minister , he was born in Amherst County Va. He went to Iowa, then to Missouri where he died . He was married 3 times; 1st to Jane Pryor 2nd to Martha Neighborgal, and 3rd to Martha Jane Johnson . On Oct. 7, 1857, Miss Bibb became the wife of Justus Canfield and the couple made this city their home ever since. Three children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Canfield and the youngest, Mrs Nerl L. Mershon of this city, living. There also survives a foster daughter, Mrs. A.F. Wohlenberg of Kooskie, Idaho, a daughter of Mosley Canfield, who was read from childhood by Mr. & Mrs. Canfield. The two children who died were Nora Emma and George Clinton. Mrs canfield is also survived by five brothers and three sisters. They are L.C. Bibb of Hannibal Mo.; E F. Bibb of this city; Homer J. Bibb of Kansas City; C.A. Bibb of Cyrene Mo.; Mrs. S. Frazier, of Aurora Mo.; and Mrs. Elizabeth Haskin of this city. Mrs C anfield was a member of the Methodist in which she was an active member for years.. Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa Julia father - William H. Bibb 1810-ca 1890 son of Martin Bibb, he was born in Amherst County VA, Went to Iowa , then to Missouri where he died at a ripe old age. William Bibb was a Baptist Minister and a fine example of an old time Virginia gentleman . He was married three times ; 1st to Jane Pryor 2nd to Martha Neighborgal, and 3rd to Martha Jane Johnson . He was the father of 17 children .
