Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Lawrence church, requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father Cordes. Burial will be family lot in the cemetery by the side of her husband, who died April 5, 1922. Julia Newman, daughter of Richard and Martha Newman was born at Louisville. Ky. Jan. 3, 1863. When she was a year and a half old she went with her parents to Dixon, Illinois, where the home was established and the family grew up. She was united in marriage to Stephen Finnegan at Dixon, Illinois Jan. 14, 1891 and they came immediately to Carroll county, where Mr. Finnegan lived and settled on the farm nine miles north of town. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Leo Reinhart (Anna) of Scranton; Miss Mayme Finnegan at home; Mrs. Henry Ocken (Martha) of Lidderdale; John C. Finnegan and Miss Agnes Finnegan at home. She also leaves a brother William Newman of Freeport, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. T. Denny of Chicago; and seven grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Finnegan retired from active work on the farm in 1920 and moved to Carroll. They purchased the E.L. Wilson property on North Carroll street, which has since been the home. Mr. Finnegan died two years later, and Mrs. Finnegan carried on with the aid of her two daughters, Miss Mayme and Miss Agnes Finnegan, and maintained the home. They tenderly cared for her during her last illness. After the death of her daughter-in-law, Mrs John Finnegan, she made a home for her son and his small daughter, Delphine. The latter looked upon her as a mother. Mrs Finnegan was devoted to her home and family. She was a devout Catholic.
