The body of Mrs. Julia Bougger, who died at her home in York on Wednesday, April 21, was brought to David City Friday noon and burial was in the Catholic cemetery in Center townhip that afternoon. Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's Catholic church in York Friday morning and were conducted by Rev. Father Cullen. The pallbearers, Judge George F. Corcoran, Dennis Mehan, Michael McCarty, Hugh Neville, Henry Sucher and Lawrence Timoney, came with the body to David City. Frank Bougger and Mr. and Mrs. John Medinger, residing near David City, went to York to attend the funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Speicher, of Columbus, were also in attendance at the funeral. Mrs. Bougger had been in failing health since last fall, but was bedfast only a week. She and her husband, Frank Bougger, were early settlers of Butler county, having come here from Missouri about 44 years ago. They located on homestead land near Abie and lived there nearly 32 years, then moving to David City. Five years ago they moved to Orleans and after Mr. Bougger's death three years ago Mrs. Bougger moved to York. Mrs. Bougger was born in Sweden [Switzerland]. She was past 77 years of age. When a babe her parents came to the United States and located in Missouri. She and Mr. Bougger were united in marriage in January, 1865. Seven children survive Mrs. Bougger. They are Frank Bougger and Mrs. John Medinger, living near David City, Mrs. Peter Speicher of Columbus, Misses Lizzie and Katie, Sisters in a convent in Hardington, Miss Carrie, Sister in a convent in Las Vegas, New Mexico and Miss Jennie who was living with her mother in York.
