Read More	Julius "Duke" Truhe, 86, of Jefferson, SD died on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Countryside Senior Living in Sioux City, IA. Julius was born on July 27, 1922 to Frank and Elizabeth (Stevens) Truhe in Templeton, IA. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1943. He spent most of his life in Jefferson, with short times spent in Alton, IA, Alcester, Canton & Elk Point. "Duke" was married to Martha Elizabeth Hughes on November 10, 1945 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. He worked for Iowa Public Service Company for 39 years as an electric and gas serviceman for Southern Union County, retiring in 1984. He was very active in the community, serving as a Jefferson volunteer fireman and EMT for 40 years, as well as being one of the organizers of the Jefferson Ambulance Squad. He served as Jefferson Mayor, President of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and was a Volunteer Civil Defense Worker in Woodbury County. He also worked for many years at horse & dog tracks in southern Union County. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus and IBEW. Survivors include his wife, Martha Elizabeth of Elk Point; sons Joe (Debra) of Jefferson, Dr. Tom of Palm Springs, CA, Don (Brenda) of Elk Point, and Jim (Ann) of Jefferson; daughters Jean Truhe of Orlando, FL, and Pat (Mike) Christiansen of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph V. Truhe of Reisterstown, MD; many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law. Julius was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Valeria; brother, Richard; 5 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law. Duke willed his body to the University of South Dakota Medical School. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the St. Peter's Community Center Building Fund or the Jefferson Fire & Ambulance Depts. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson, SD, with Fr. David Roehrich officiating.
