June was born June 30, 1916 in Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Freeman and Edna Hansine (Larsen) Coover. In 1933 she graduated from Hornick (Iowa) High School. Folkers, 89, of Smithland, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa. June was born June 30, 1916 in Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Freeman and Edna Hansine (Larsen) Coover. In 1933 she graduated from Hornick (Iowa) High School. She was married to Floyd Bennett, John W. Schick, Edgar Shattuck, and Bill Folkers, all of whom preceded her in death. She had lived in Holly Springs, Rodney and Smithland before moving to Pleasant View Care Center in August 2005. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Smithland and a 50 year member of Queen Esther Chapter O.E.S. #222, Onawa, Iowa. She was initiated in 1961 and had served as Worthy Matron several times. She quilted and made lap robes for those who were in wheelchairs and ditty bags for veterans. She is survived by two sons, Brian Bennett of Whiting and Ralph Bennett and his wife, Cheryl of Bolingbrook, Illinois; a daughter, Linda McGinnis of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Coover of Savannah, Georgia; and three sisters, Nina Martinsen of Newcastle, Nebraska, Joyce Swalley of Rapid City, South Dakota and Janice Dahl of San Diego, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one grandchild, Kevin Bennett; an infant daughter and son; and three brothers, True, Orlie and Howard Coover. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Smithland, Iowa, with Pastor LeRoy Struble officiating. The pianist was Ardith Armour and the soloist, Myron Armour sang the selections, "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden". Casket bearers were David Barngrover, Myron Armour, Dennis Claus, Donald Forney, Melvin Johnston and Rod Terrill. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa, with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
