June was born on May 28, 1926 in Van Nuys, California to Ernest and Mabel Chamberlin. George was born on June 20, 1924 in Chico, California to Walter and Minnie Brooke. They were married on April 18, 1948 in the small chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. Both were preceded in death by their parents, and by June's brothers, Bertram, Thomas and Edward; and George's older siblings, Walter and Minerva. June graduated from Chico Senior High School in 1945 and worked as a proof-reader for the Chico Record before it was acquired by the Chico Enterprise in the late 1940's. June later became a mother and homemaker. George graduated from Chico Senior High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Army Air Force, where he served as a heavy bomber mechanic in the Eighth Air Force. After the war, George applied his mechanical skills to a career as a heavy equipment mechanic for International Truck, John Deere Tractor and a variety of rice farms in the local area. They both took pride in their family, the home and yard they built in 1958, always enjoyed the company of family and children, taking care of their pets, and making day trips into the country. June and George are survived by their sons, Douglas R. Brooke, his wife, Therese and son, Christopher of Oregon, and Jeff W. Brooke of Sacramento, California. They too are survived by June's sisters, Norma Howard, Janet Stott and Kathryn Willadsen and their families, as well as the families of Bertram, Thomas and Edward; and George's sister, Frances Rebbic and her family, as well as the families of Walter and Minerva. Arrangements have been made by Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. Remembrances can be made to the Butte County Humane Society and to the American Pancreatic Association.
