Description	:	Justus was the eldest son and 2nd of 13 children (12 surviving to adulthood) to New Jersey-born Jonathan & Mary (Clark) Dunham, who moved to Mercer Co., PA., about 1797. On Sept. 18, 1828, he was first married, and he and his wife Eliza were living in 1830 in his native Pymatuning Township, Mercer County. Eliza bore at least 5 children before she died, after which time Justus soon remarried; his second wife (the former Mary Ferguson, b. PA in 1824) would bear him another 5 children. On Sept. 18, 1828, he was first married, and he and his wife Eliza were living in 1830 in his native Pymatuning Township, Mercer County. About 1848-49, the family moved west to Bellevue (today's Belleview), Jackson County, eastern Iowa. By 1856, they had moved to near Pleasanton, Hamilton Township, Decatur County, southernmost Iowa (not far from the Missouri border), where Justus was listed as a carpenter in the 1870 census. He died in Decatur County at age 76; county probate records for 1880-92 have been lost, so his will & estate records do not survive.
