She was taken to Bennet Wednesday where burial took place. From the Lincoln Evening Journal, August 25, 1926, page 12, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Karen Olsen died Sunday evening, August 15, at the home of her daughter. She was born at Sandagem in the province of Laaland, on the shores of the Baltic in Denmark, November 7, 1839 and in 1861 was married to Lars Olsen. In 1884 they came to America, settling in Lancaster county, Nebraska, establishing a farm home near Bennet, where Mrs. Olsen spent the rest of her life until last June when she went to spend her declining years with her daughter, Mrs. P. H. Rasmussen, near St. Paul, in Howard County. Mr. Olsen died in 1907. These children survive their parents: Peter, Jens, Ole and Walter of Bennet; Jorgen of Loup City, Christian of Palmyra and Mrs. Rasmussen. Mrs. Olsen made here home with the youngest son, Walter, previous to June. Mrs. Olsen was a pioneer and one of the few Danish settlers left in this county. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and her home was always open to the pastor. Altho of late her hearing was impaired, she continued to attend services when she was able, and had attended a ladies' aid meeting on the day her last illness began. She was nearly 87 years old. Besides her children she leaves 29 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, August 18, in the Presbyterian church at Bennet, Rev. Mr. Taler of the Danish Lutheran church of Lincoln officiating. The six sons were pallbearers. Interment was in the Bennet cemetery beside the late Lars Olsen. -------------------------
