Description	:	Kari Knutson, 86, Sherwood, died April 16, in a Mohall hospital. Her funeral was on Friday, April 19 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood, with burial in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, rural Norma. Officiating for the ceremony was Pastor Bill Carpenter of Minot with special music by Carlen Gilseth, and organist Mrs. Rose Marie Brown. Eight of her grandchildren were casketbearers, Dwight, Timothy and Bradley Knutson, Todd Gilseth, James Houmann, Michael Nelson, Mark Knox and Stephen Thorson. Her funeral was on Friday, April 19 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sherwood, with burial in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery, rural Norma. Officiating for the ceremony was Pastor Bill Carpenter of Minot with special music by Carlen Gilseth, and organist Mrs. Rose Marie Brown. Eight of her grandchildren were casketbearers, Dwight, Timothy and Bradley Knutson, Todd Gilseth, James Houmann, Michael Nelson, Mark Knox and Stephen Thorson. She was born October 8, 1898 in Evanger, Norway, a daughter of John and Guri Mestad, and was reared there. She came to the United States May 20, 1915 and lived with her brother, Johanes, in Rockford Township, Renville County, for a year. She married Carl Knutson July 19, 1916, in Norma. They lived and farmed in Rockford and Grover townships until Feb. 28, 1928, moving then to Stafford Township where they farmed for many years. He died October 13, 1968. She continued to live on the farm until 1976 when she moved to Sherwood. She was a member of Stafford Township Homemakers Club, the Prosperity Ladies Aid of Sherwood, and was a Gold Star Mother of American Legion Bothun-Peterson Post No. 213 in Sherwood. Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Ted (Constance) Turpin, Auburn, Wash.. Mrs. Orris (Elna) Knox; Minot, Mrs. Gary (Melba) Gilseth, Mohall, Mrs. A. W. (Roselyn) Thorson, Morton, Ill., Mrs. Alvin (Carolyn) Houmann, Westhope, Mrs. Lloyd (Thelma) Nelson, Norma; sons, Trygve, Arne, Robert and Arnold, all of Sherwood; 48 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two brothers and six sisters, all of Norway. Preceding her in death were a son, Gilmore, killed in a submarine in the China Sea during WWII; husband, Carl; brother, Johanes, and two sisters in Norway.
