Klebe and his wife, Donna Jean (Albers) Klebe. They died on August 3 at their home in Elkhorn. Pallbearers were Walter Kratelik, Edward Ohm, Larry Oltjen, James Roberts, Paul Roberts and Larry Smith. Honorary bearers were Pete Backhuus, Henry Biel, Howard Christensen, Fritz Daehling, Wally Deerson, T. E. Denker, Bob Dreibus, Pete Winterburn, Laurel Fletcher, Bill Fletcher, Curt Fletcher, Len Fralick, Norm Krahmer, John Salmons and Paul Spilman. Dr. Norman E. Schroeder officiated. Swanson Funeral Homes of Valley and Elkhorn were in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery near Elkhorn. Karl Henry Theodore Klebe, son of Karl and Anna (Vokers) / [Volkers] Klebe, was born December 9, 1927 in Elkhorn. He grew up in Elkhorn, attended elementary school and graduated from Elkhorn High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. Karl was the owner and operator of the Standard and Mobil service stations in Elkhorn, a commercial honey producer and a trucker. Karl was baptized in the Christian faith. He confirmed his faith at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and the Eagles, and served on the Elkhorn Rescue Squad. ~ ~~~~~~ © Sunday World-Herald; Omaha, Nebraska; August 4, 1985 ; News Section Police Report Murder - Suicide An Elkhorn man apparently shot his wife with a high - powered rifle and then turned the weapon on himself in a murder - suicide Saturday morning, police said. Karl H. Klebe Jr., 58, of 653 Westridge Drive, and his wife, Donna, 55, were found dead in their bedroom by their daughter at about 11:15 a.m., said Elkhorn Police Officer Bill Beck. Beck said the shooting apparently occurred at about 9:15 a.m. He said the Klebes lived in a residential section of Elkhorn, but no neighbors reported hearing the shots. He said police have not determined a motive in the deaths. "There was no indication of despondency or illness," he said. "No note was left. It appears at this time it was a murder - suicide." Beck said Mrs. Klebe's body was found in bed with one gunshot wound and her husband's body was found on the floor nearby. He said the daughter found the bodies when she stopped by to visit her parents. The policeman said Klebe was employed with Fletcher - Klebe Honey Co., of Bennington, Neb. Beck said Mrs. Klebe was the Elkhorn city clerk for many years. He said she retired about five years ago. Beck said the Elkhorn police and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office were investigating. A double funeral service was set for 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bennington. In addition to their daughter, Barbara Fletcher of Bennington, survivors include a son, Byron Klebe of Moorehead, Minn. Karl H. Klebe Jr., 58, of 653 Westridge Drive, and his 55 - year - old wife, Donna, were found in their bedroom, shot with a high - powered rifle. Klebe apparently fired the shots that killed both himself and his wife, Scott said. Scott said a police investigation turned up no motive in the shootings. Klebe had been undergoing psychiatric care recently in Omaha, Scott said.
