She went by the name: Amalia. She was born out of wedlock in Hurdal, Akershus, Norway. There is no record in Norway that Even is the father of her. He has another illegitimate child by another woman. Information by her son: Amelia Nelson was 14 years when she came to America with her parents. She worked for the residence of the Pillsbury Four Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When they heard her playing the piano they gave her piano lessons. She also worked for Hal Roberts home in Postville ( a seed company). She was a maid at the Zeigler home in West Union (he was a lawyer). John and Amelia paid for their first home by cutting cord wood. Three cord a day at 50 cents an cord. Later they bought the adjoining 200 acres by their property. John quarried stone on the farm for the foundation for a new brick house. John Larson also said that Amelia's mother was not married. It was impossible to marry out of your class. Ole Nelson was offered $500.00 to marry Mathea and move away. DEATH OF MRS. LARSON Mrs. John (Amelia) Larson died early Tuesday morning at her home. She had been in failing health for some time. She was 84 years of old on November 1, 1953. She was a pioneer of Pleasant Valley Township, and lived on the same farm 61 years. Her husband died om September, 1950. They were the parents of eleven children. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon from the West Clermont Lutheran church.
