Funeral Monday. Mrs. Karoline Kraft, 70 years old died suddenly early Sunday morning at the residence of Bernard Sonksen where she had made her home the last 4 years. Mrs. Kraft had not been in good health for some years but her condition never was serious. She suffered a heart attack early in the morning and passed away before any of her children could reach her bedside. Born in Germany Jan 20 1859, she lived there until 1882 when the family came to America. She was married in Germany to J.K. Kraft. 9 children were born to this union. The family lived in Illinois until 1896 when they came to Iowa living at Castana and Mapleton. Mr. Kraft died 21 years ago. One daughter Mabel died in 1911. Mrs. Kraft is survived by 5 sons and 3 daughters who are: William, George, Ed of Mapleton; Charles Kraft of Ute, Albert Kraft of Anthon, Mrs. Clara Van Laningham of Sioux City, Mrs. Ida Baker of Castana, Mrs. Matilda Bonham of Missouri Valley. Other survivors are one brother, John Kraft of Mapleton, 41 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday afternoon at St. Peters Evangelical Church with Rev Wm Krummel officiating. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery. From M - bio by 46883894
