At the age of eleven years she moved with her parents to Bourbon county, Kansas, and settled on a claim near Mapleton in 1857. She was united in marriage to W.L. Craig in the fall of 1866. Read More	The Howard Courant Howard, Kansas Thursday, October 27, 1921 page 2 Mrs. Katie Craig - Obituary. Katie Ann Hessong was born near Peru, Indiana, March 14, 1846. At the age of eleven years she moved with her parents to Bourbon county, Kansas, and settled on a claim near Mapleton in 1857. She was united in marriage to W.L. Craig in the fall of 1866. They came to Elk county in 1870, and settled on a homestead farm where she remained the rest of her life, and where she died October 22, 1921, at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 7 days. To this union were born nine children. Her husband and four children preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure four daughters, Lydia Pitcer and Minnie Woodard, of Wasco, California; Jennie Woods, of Los Angeles, California; and Ella Bracken of Independence; and one son, Frank Craig at home, besides thirty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. George Banum and Mrs. W.A. Swank of Fort Scott, and Mrs. Chas. Brown, of San Diego, California; two brothers, Asa and Levi Hussong of Mapleton, Kansas; and a host of friends, who have known her for many years. Mrs. Craig was converted at Mapleton, Kansas, in her early years and united with the Christian church here in 1904, at Bethany Church. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
