BROOKVILLE DEMOCRAT : September 25, 1902 SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. HUMIG Thursday, about noon, Mrs. Katharine Humig, living on the home farm with her son Joseph, died suddenly. Mrs. Humig has been subject to attacks of indisposition for years. For a week, she had been feeling ill, and Thursday morning remained in bed. She ate a hearty breakfast and a lunch at 9:00 a.m.. When her daughter in law went to the room at noon she was horrified to find the old lady dying. Her husband was absent and his brother Michael Humig, who lives near, and looked after the farm, had left but a few minutes prevoulsly and was recalled, but Mrs. Humig died in a short time. Her sons Melchoir and Joseph were called from Brookville where they were working as carpenters on St. Michaels Church. Coroner Bogart was also notified and found that death was do to an apoplectic seizure. Mrs. Humig was Bavarian. The funeral was held Saturday morning at Oak Forest. Brookville Democrat: September 25, 1902 (Oak Forest) Died, suddenly at her home in Oak Forest, Mrs. Catherine Humig, Thursday, September 18th, at the age of 74 years. Her death was due to dilitation of the heart. She was a member of St. Anne's Society of this congregation. The members of said society turned out in a body to do honor to their deceased member. The funeral took place Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from the St. Philomena church, conducted by Rev., C.P. Baron, after which the remains were laid to rest in the St. Philomena Cemetary. A host of relatives and friends are left to mourn her death. R.I.P.
