Description	:	Marriage surname was also spelled Heberlein and Häberlein, as well as many misspellings on U.S. Federal Censuses. Immigrated from Weidensees, Germany in 1844 with husband and two daughters. A son was spoken of in Indiana in a letter by Katharina's great grand-daughter Alma Hempfling to Alma's cousin Anna Haenggi - stating that he died at age 8 or 9. Katharina's grandson Albert Lambeck also recalled in a letter that there was a son who died young. In addition to the two daughters on the transcribed 1850 U.S. Federal Census of Harrison Twp., Spencer County, IN, there is a 5 yr. old son George in the family of "Thos. G. Eveline" (Thos. is an error transcription of "Jno" which is on the hand-written census, and Jno is an antiquated abbreviation for John. Eveline is an error transcription of Heberlein). On the 1860 census, the family listing is John G. and Catherin Haberlein, still living in Harrison Twp., and the only child at home is daughter Annah (older daughter Katharina had already married, and son George is assumed to have been deceased by this time). Johann and Katharina have not yet been found on the 1870 census. Katharina passed away before the 1880 census; she is believed to be buried beside her husband where there is a gravestone in similar style to his - all lettering has deteriorated (see photo). No death record or grave marker for their son George has been found.
