Born July 25, 1882, in Wayne Township, she was the daughter of Gerd and Katharina Tobiason Rickels. She attended the Wayne township schools and on March 8, 1900, she was married to Tobias Folkers. They made their home on a farm in Wayne Township until 1928 when they retired and moved to Monticello. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church in Monticello. Surviving are her husband, one son, H.W.G.. Folkers of Scotch Grove, and one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Edna) Jacobsen of Monticello; three brothers, Gerhard Rickels of Amber, John H. and William Rickels, both of Monticello; two sisters, Mrs. John Poppe of Amber and Mrs. Oscar Ambuehl of Monticello; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Melvin Tobiason, Ervin Poppe, Henry Hayen, Louis Hayen, Donald Rickels and Leo Ambuehl.
