Description	:	Katherine Caroline Buttman went home to her Lord on Sunday, June 19, 1994. She had fought a courageous battle against cancer with the help and support of her family and the wonderful staff of Big Sky Hospice. She was born on March 15, 1915, the daughter of Edward and Luisa Klein in Willa, N.D. She was raised on a farm in the Burt, N.D., area and attended rural area schools. Read More	Katherine Caroline Buttman went home to her Lord on Sunday, June 19, 1994. She had fought a courageous battle against cancer with the help and support of her family and the wonderful staff of Big Sky Hospice. She was born on March 15, 1915, the daughter of Edward and Luisa Klein in Willa, N.D. She was raised on a farm in the Burt, N.D., area and attended rural area schools. On Sept. 21, 1933, she married Art Buttman. Katie farmed with her husband in the Burt area until 1939, when they moved to Billings. They remained in Billings until 1947 when they returned to the Mott, N.D., area to farm. In 1959, Katherine and Art returned to Billings and made Billings their permanent home. Katherine worked for 17 years as a seamstress for the Deaconess Hospital. After her retirement, Katie continued to enjoy sewing, crocheting and quilting. Katie devoted her life to caring for her husband, family and her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Clayton and his wife, Gerry of Billings; two daughters, Shirley Kroll and her husband, Bill of Kent, Wash., and Alice Lahren of Billings; seven grandchildren, Diana and JoAnna Kroll of Kent, Wash., Michelle and Paul Buttman of Billings, Seth Buttman Garland of Seattle, Wash., and Brandon and Kristopher Lahren of Billings; one sister, Edna Guenther of Dickinson, N.D.: seven brothers, Jake Klein of Jamestown , N.D., Ben Klein of Lemmon, S.D., John Klein of New England, N.D., Richard Klein, of Greybull, Wyo., Edmund Klein of Elgin, N.D., Ervin Klein of Bowman, N.D., and Marvin Klein of Glen Ullin, N.D.; and her special friends, Elnora and Ervin Heim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, two children, Marvin and Deloras, her parents, two sisters, Bertha and Lydia, and one brother, Edward. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pilgrim Congregational Church with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, send memorials to Big Sky Hospice.
