Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Katherine Marie Stoxen was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Bismarck, the daughter of Joseph and Laura Mae (Gjers) Jiras. Katherine Marie Stoxen was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Bismarck, the daughter of Joseph and Laura Mae (Gjers) Jiras. She grew up near Baldwin, attended grade school at Cromwell No. 1 and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1967. On Nov. 18, 1967, she married Ken Stoxen at McCabe United Methodist Church. They were married for 23 years. Katherine completed the medical assistant program at Interstate Business College and was currently attending Bismarck State College's power plant program. She was a member of Sunne Lutheran Church and Riverside Homemakers. She enjoyed riding horses, camping, trail rides and being outdoors. Her greatest joys in life were her grandkids. Katherine is survived by her mother, Laura Mae Jiras, Baldwin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Neil Thormodsgard, Eaton, Colo., Kristy and Dan Bear, Lisbon, and Kimberly and Floyd Miller, Baldwin; two sons, Kirby, Bismarck, and Kody, Baldwin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Melissa Jiras, Bismarck, and Raymond and Pat Skoglund, Baldwin; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Thomas Metz, Bismarck; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
