Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 21, at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Schauer officiating. Visitation will be Thursday starting at 4 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Laura Mae was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Chicago, to Bertil and Priscilla Gjers (Johnson). Upon the passing of Bertil, Priscilla married Charles Magnuson and moved the family to rural Regan. Laura Mae received her education in a school south of Regan. In 1943, she married Ernest "Buddy" Skoglund. They lived on a farm in Burleigh County. Laura Mae and Buddy had two children, Raymond and Shirley. Upon Buddy's death, Laura Mae married Joseph Jiras of Baldwin, in 1949. She moved to the farm and lived there for the rest of her life. They had two children, Katherine and Dewey. Two of Laura Mae's greatest loves were gardening and playing cards. She was known to always have a hot meal ready for any visitor, announced or not. She grew up working on a farm and continued to milk dairy cows until 77 years of age. Laura Mae spent many hours watching her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and neighbors swimming in the pool. The greatest joys she had were visiting with her family and friends. Laura Mae is survived by her children, Raymond and Patricia, Baldwin, Shirley and Thomas, Bismarck, and Dewey Bismarck; too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to count; brother, Charles, Seattle, and her sisters, Maria, Missoula, Mont., and Margie, Bismarck. Laura Mae was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Buddy and Joseph; her daughter, Katherine; and two grandchildren, Heidi and Russell. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
