Read More	With thanks to Jcarter (#48847489) for the bio information Published in the Messenger of Truth Issue 16, 1967: Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Katherine (Fast) Reimer, was born on July 4, 1887, to Peter B. and Anna Fast at Rosenort, Man., and passed away in her home which she shared with her eldest daughter Beth, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 26 days. Mother was up and walking about in the forenoon as usual; had partaken of her noon meal, and was resting on the couch. Her daughter was in an adjoining room when she heard her brief sound of distress. She went quickly to mother's side, but the spirit had fled. Her passing came very suddenly, yet not altogether unexpectedly, as she had suffered a minor stroke in May 1965; and again a more severe attack in August of the same year, at which time she was partly disabled and lost the use of her voice for about a week. However, she recovered completely, returned from the hospital, and enjoyed fair health until she was called home. We are thankful to God for His grace, in extending her life, giving us as children and grandchildren the blessing of having her with us. In her youth, mother answered the call of her Saviour, and upon repentance and confession of her faith was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. She was faithful till her end, yet not without some severe trials and struggles in life. She loved to read the Bible and in times of trouble spent much time in prayer, also for her children and grandchildren, who were very dear to her. Mother grew up and received her education in N. Dak. Much of her youth was spent working at home and for others. On May 18, 1913 she was united in marriage to Abram T. Reimer, with whom she shared joys and sorrows for 46 years and 9 months. To this union were born 4 sons and 5 daughters. One daughter died in infancy. During their married life mother and Dad with a growing family, took up farming in different places; in Manitoba, in Texas, at Swalwell and finally in 1931 mother and dad with 8 children moved to their homestead at Crooked Creek, Alberta, where they resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her departure 8 children; four sons with their families: Ben and Amanda; Levi and Edna; Wesley and Rosalee; Alfred and Ruth; four daughters: Beth, of the home; Henen and Frank Toews; Florence and Phil Purves; Ruby and Don Matlock, all of this area; 32 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; three brothers: Pete of S. Dak.; Clifford of Kansas; and Curt Fast; five sisters: Annie, (Mrs. John T. Reimer) of Manitoba; Lena (Mrs. Kiah Holderman), of Idaho; Susie (Mrs. Al Fleming of Washington; Eva (Mrs. Clarence Koehn) of Kansas; Justina of Kansas, and many more relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, one infant daughter, and one granddaughter. We miss her very keenly, her gentle, kindly manner; may it be an example to us. We feel assured that she has gone to a better home. Mother was tired and weary, Weary with toil and with pain; Put by her glasses and rocker, She will not need them again. Into Heaven's mansions she's entered, Never to sigh or to weep; After long years with life's struggles, Mother has fallen asleep. Near other loved ones we laid her, For in the churchyard to life, And though our hearts are near broken, Yet we would not question why. She does not rest 'neath the grasses, Tho o'er her grave they creep; She has gone into the kingdom, Mother has fallen asleep. Rest the tired feet now forever, Dear wrinkled hands are so still; Blasts of the earth shall no longer, Throw over our loved one a chill. Angels through Heaven will guide her, Jesus will still bless and keep, Not for the world would we wake her, Mother has fallen asleep. Beautiful rest for the weary, Well deserved, rest for the true; When cur life's journey is ended, We shall again be with you. This helps to quiet our weeping, Hark! angel music so sweet, He giveth to His beloved Beautiful, beautiful sleep. ~ The Family ~ Funeral services were conducted on July 4, 1967 at the Rosedale Church at Crooked Creek, Alberta. Min. F. F. Hiebert made opening remarks and prayer, followed by Min. P. T. Thiessen, speaking from Rom. 8:28 and Rev. 7:17. Interment was made in the Rosedale Cemetery.
