Description	:	Katherine Anderson Fox, 91, died February 13, 2013, at Morning Star Care Center in Ft Washakie, WY. Known as "Torchie" because of her flaming red hair, Katherine was born to John and Eva Anderson on August 17, 1921, in Laramie, WY. Read More	Katherine Anderson Fox, 91, died February 13, 2013, at Morning Star Care Center in Ft Washakie, WY. Known as "Torchie" because of her flaming red hair, Katherine was born to John and Eva Anderson on August 17, 1921, in Laramie, WY. When her father drowned in the Laramie River September, 1921, the family moved to Walden, Colorado, to be close to her mother's family, August (Gus) and Lena Anderson. Torchie had one sister, Charlotte Tobleman. Torchie married Ray Casper Fox on August 23, 1937, and they shared 44 years together. To this union was born 2 daughters, Sheila and Rae Carolyn. The Fox family lived on a ranch a few miles south of Walden, where they raised hay and cattle along the Illinois River. Ray and Torch moved to Walden in 1978 when they sold their ranch to the Department of Interior (US Fish and Wildlife Service) as an addition to the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge. Retired, they took off for parts unknown with their travel trailer, visiting many interesting places,often spending winters as snowbirds in Harlingen, Texas. These seasonal trips later resulted in a permanent winter place. Ray and Torch also took many cruises to far-off places with a group from Ft. Collins,CO. Torchie continued to travel with the group after Ray's death in 1981, and some of her favorite trips were to Canada, Scandinavia, Western and Eastern Europe. Torchie sent home many postcards in her beautiful handwriting that stirred the imagination of her grandkids, and helped them realize the world is out there to be seen. Torchie later married Rayburn (Shorty) Wheatley. They had many happy years until Shorty's death in 1998. She was a participant in many community events, but her favorite was the Women's Club annual musical revue show. She served on the Jackson County School and Election boards, participated in the Cowbelles and Old Timer's Association, and worked at the office of the County Treasurer for many years. She took her daughters and their friends to music competitions and many a football and basketball game. She was a great cook and provided treats for classroom parties. She helped put up the hay by running the mowers and cooked for the hay crew. She sewed, knitted,and crocheted, but her main pastime was playing bridge and in later years,playing dominoes. Torchie enjoyed card games because they brought people together, and she believed they helped keep her mind nimble—she was right. Torchie lived in Walden until 2009 when she moved to Morning Star Care Center in Ft Washakie, WY to be close to her daughter, Rae Carolyn Gullett. Torchie was preceded in death by her folks, husbands Ray and Shorty.. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her sister Charlotte of Texas, daughters Sheila Hatch of Severence,CO, and Rae Carolyn (Tony) Gullett of Lander, Wyoming, grandchildren Kathie Larsen, Karen Hessling of Severence, CO, Shannon (Jim) Whitt of Ogden, UT, Kale(Jennifer) Gullett of Greensboro, NC, and great-grandchildren Randi, JJ,Jackson, Madison, Zachary, Marilee, Hallie and Mira, as well as many nieces and nephews, and special friend Fred Wyatt.
