Description	:	Kathleen Cronin, 77, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away early Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. with Reverends Jean Ziettlow and Peter Rosenkvist officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service Thursday evening at the funeral home. Kathleen Joyce Asseln was born April 24, 1937 in Le Mars, Iowa to Dick and Kate (Ommen) Asseln. Kathleen was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa. She graduated from Le Mars Central High School in 1955. Kathleen was united in marriage to Kenneth Cronin on October 11, 1957 in Glendale, California. The couple made their home in Le Mars. She worked in retail sales for several years with The Back Door, Old Acquaintances and The Greenery all in Le Mars. She later for a number of years worked as the Activities Coordinator for Plymouth Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1999. Kathleen and Ken enjoyed traveling during retirement years. She has been a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a member of Naomi Circle. She also enjoyed gardening, antiques and attending household auctions. For a number of years, Kathleen volunteered as a Plymouth Manor Advocate. Survivors include her children: Scott Cronin of Chicago, IL, Mark Cronin of Elizabeth, IL, and Susan Logan of Berkley, CA; a grandson, Nicholas Logan of Berkley, CA; a brother, Elmer Asseln of Ireton, IA; a sister, Shirley Ludwig and her husband Ray of Augusta, KS; a brother-in-law, Robert Cronin of Oyens, IA; a sister-in-law, Clarris Hoefling and her husband Fred of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Kate (Ommen) Asseln; husband Kenneth Cronin on December 12, 2012; a sister, Lorene Harms; a brother, Marvin Asseln; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Asseln.
