Mother suddenly became ill at the breakfast table on August 25, 1980, and was taken to the Grande Prairie Hospital. It was soon apparent that her time of departure from this life was at hand. Her family was gathered by her side when she passed away at 8:50 p.m. the same evening, reaching the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 18 days. Her father passed away early in life, and she lived at various places with her mother and family, moving to Saskatchewan in 1911. On August 1, 1912, she was united in marriage to Peter Jantz at Waldheim, Saskatchewan, upon which they took up residence on his homestead at Biggar, Saskatchewan. In 1914, they moved to the Swalwell, Alberta, area, living on various farms till 1936, when the family moved to the Crooked Creek area. In 1914, our parents responded to the call of the Lord and were converted. They were baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on November 13 of the same year. Amid joys and sorrows, our parents tried their best to serve the Lord faithfully. As a family, we appreciate what they have done for us. After sixty-one years of married life, Father was called away on December 26, 1973. Mother felt the loss keenly, but she continued living in their home with Mary, her daughter, until her passing. She leaves to mourn her departure: eleven children: Martha, John, Leonard, Agnes, Matilda, Kathleen, Anna, Ella, Mary, Sam, and Mabel; fifty grandchildren; eighty-four great-grandchildren; one sister, Stella and husband John Harder; and many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her husband, Peter, in 1973; one son, Simon, in 1977; two children in their infancy; five grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister. Funeral services were held on August 30, 1980, in the Rosedale Mennonite Church, Crooked Creek, Alberta. Ministers Lorne Thiessen and Dewey Unruh were in charge. Graveside services were conducted by Minister Wilbert Thiessen. Burial was in the Rosedale Cemetery.
