Jantz, was born to Peter H. and Agnes (Schmidt) Jantz on July 18, 1891 in Marion County, South Dakota. He passed away suddenly at our home in Crooked Creek, Alberta on Dec. 26, 1973, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 8 days. At the age of 16 he moved to Waldheim, Saskatchewan, with his parents and three years later he took up a homestead at Biggar, Sask. On Aug. 1, 1912 he was married to me, Katherina Braunn. We shared the joys and sorrows of life for over 61 years. In 1914 we moved to Alberta, arriving in the Swalwell area in 1916 and to Crooked Creek 20 years later. We were both converted to the Lord in 1914 and were baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on Nov. 13 that year. Amid trials and afflictions our father sought to serve the Lord. He leaves to mourn his departure me, his wife; and 12 children: Martha and Earl Jobson; Simon and Katherine; John and Ruth; Leonard and Katherine, all of Crooked Creek; Agnes and Aubrey Gunter, Pounce Coupe, B. C.; Matilda and Irvin V. Macklin, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Kathleen and Albert Benson, Edmonton, Alta.; Anna and William Purves, Hythe, Alta.; Ella and James Duncan, Clairmont, Alta.; Mary of the home; Samuel and Mabel, Crooked Creek; Mabel and Byran Gunter, Pounce Coupe, B. C.; 53 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna and Walter Unruh, Linden, Alta.; three brothers, David and Leona Jantz, Abbotsford, B. C.; Samuel and Anna Jantz, Linden; Cornelius Jantz, Linden; and many other relatives and friends. We hope to meet him again. Preceding him in death were: two children in their infancy, one son-in-law, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Funeral services were held Dec. 29, 1973 at the Rosedale Church with Min. Lorne Thiessen bringing the message. He was laid to rest in the Rosedale Cemetery were Min. Joe Isaac was in charge.
