A daughter of Ida and Edward Blair, she was born July 4, 1917, at Yetter, graduated from Lytton High School and graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll in 1938. She and Louis Nockels were married Oct. 4, 1939, and had three children. Mrs. Nockels was a nurse for more than 30 years, working in the obstetrics department at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school, and was a nurse for vacation bible school. She was a member of Chapter EB, PEO, in Carroll. The Nockels's retired in 1977 and moved to Camarillo, Calif., to be near their daughter, Louise. Mrs. Nockels volunteered in patient services and senior services at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo for more than 20 years. She was a member, elder, and deacon at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Mr. Nockels died of lung cancer in 1996. Mrs. Nockels moved to Peoria in 2002, resided in an independent living facility and enjoyed crafts and playing bridge. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Survivors include three children and their spouses: Louise and Larry Dick of Goodyear; James and Dessa Nockels of San Marcos, Calif.; and Joseph and Nancy Nockels of Norfolk, Neb.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister; a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
