Description	:	Kathryn Fern (Katie) VanDalsen, age 91, of Brookville, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville. She was born January 25, 1922 the 7th child of 13 to the late Marshall & Alma (Gregg) Lanning. She was united in marriage to Fred Hobbs on May 23, 1942, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1969, she later married Kenneth J. Read More	Kathryn Fern (Katie) VanDalsen, age 91, of Brookville, died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville. She was born January 25, 1922 the 7th child of 13 to the late Marshall & Alma (Gregg) Lanning. She was united in marriage to Fred Hobbs on May 23, 1942, and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1969, she later married Kenneth J. VanDalsen, on August 28, 1976, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2002. Katie had a great love for her family, and even though the early years of her life were not easy, she grew up with the assurance of that love. Her devotion to her siblings and theirs to her was an inspiration to the whole family, and it set an example to each of her nieces and nephews She had worked at the former Franklin Casket Company in Brookville, and at the Franklin County ASC office, from which she retired. Katie always took great pride in doing a job well. Survivors include two step-children, Debbie Carver & Stephen VanDalsen; two sisters, Mary (Virgil) Tebbe and Bertha Ann (Don) Knecht both of Brookville, Indiana; two brothers, John (Joy) Lanning of Brookville, Indiana and James Lanning of Bridgeport, Illinois; as well as many nieces & nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by sisters, Bernice Bowen, Betty R. Martin, Opal Rhodes and Geneva Waltz; brothers, Alvin, Donald, Howard, and Robert Lanning. Pastor Glen Stidd will officiate the Funeral Services on Thursday, September 19, 2013, 2:30 P.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana. Family & friends may visit from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the services at 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, Indiana.
