Description	:	Funeral services for Kathryn J. Peterson, 88, of Villisca were held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Wolfe Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon M. Scott officiating with private burial in the Villisca Cemetery. Kathryn passed away on Sunday, March 25th at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca in charge of arrangements. Kathryn Joan Narigon Peterson was born on August 21, 1923, in Nodaway, Iowa; the daughter of Harold Rider and Olive Ameila (McCain) Narigon. She graduated from Nodaway High School in 1941 where she was active in basketball and band. She entered into marriage in on April 11, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri to Roy Elmer Peterson. During the war years she lived in Creston, Iowa, with her parents where she worked in the ration office. After the war they farmed 160 acres northeast of Villisca. During these years Kathryn was a mother and homemaker who participated as a Room Mother, Cub Scout Leader and 4-H Leader to support her children's activities. In 1969, Roy and Kathryn moved to Villisca where Roy continued his carpentry business. During this time she worked for Parker Insurance as a secretary for 12 years before becoming the Director of the Villisca Housing; a position she served for 12 years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, cake decorating and painting crafts. She had a love of the NY Yankees and enjoyed watching baseball, feeding the wild birds and flying the United States Flag. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary and had a great love of Pekingese dogs and all cats. Kathryn passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Harold Keith Narigon. Surviving Kathryn are her children: Susan Marie Behn (Steve) of Gettysburg, PA, Edward Lee Peterson (Virginia) of Omaha, NE, Fred Eugene Peterson (Janet) of Essex, Iowa and James David Peterson (Michele) of Lake Zurich, IL; grandchildren: Scott Behn (Dixie) of Lake Stevens, WA, Stacy Watts (Adam) of Maryland, Charles R. Peterson (Marcie) of Omaha, NE, Kristi Jefferson (James) of Omaha, NE, Cori Feller (Mark) of Shenandoah, IA, Mike Brown (Lisa) of Corning, IA, TJ Peterson (Peggy) of Northboro, IA, Charles W. Peterson (Bev) of Oxnard, CA, Nick Peterson (Brooke) of Elk Grove, IL, Amanda Peterson of Stansburry, MO, Chad Brown (Andrea) of Olathe, KS, Adam Brown of Clarinda, IA, Scott Brown (Courtney) Clarinda, IA and Heather Matheny (Josh) of New Market, IA; eleven great grand children; two great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Carol Eichelberger of Aurora, IL.
