She was born Sept. 6, 1947, in Eureka, the daughter of Virgil Harold and Doris Marguerite Little Stever. After graduating from Eureka High School in 1965, she attended Wichita Business College. She married William Raymond Higbee on Nov. 8, 1966. They lived in Eureka and in Guymon, Okla., before moving to Pratt. She worked in the restaurant business before joining Pratt Hospital as a billing clerk. After her husband died, on June 13, 1996, she returned to school and earned an associate's degree at Pratt Community College. She had returned to Eureka in 1998, working at Eureka Junior-Senior High School and Home Bank and Trust before joining Community National Bank. She was a member of Neal Evangelical Free Church and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Her survivors include two brothers, Her parents and a brother, Jerry Stever, also died earlier.
