Funeral services will be held from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home here Friday afternoon, July 28, 2:30 o’clock, and interment will be in the Ransom Cemetery. Ness County News, July 27, 1972 OBITUARY Katie M. Cofer, daughter of Samuel B. and Mary Graeff Mast, was born in a sod house 1 1/2 mile east of Ransom on the south side of the Missouri Pacific railroad on the Mast homestead in the Dutch Flats area. She was one of 11 children born to this union and departed this life after a short illness in Hadley Medical Center, Hays on July 24 at the age of 88 years and one month. She grew to womanhood in the Ransom community and made it her home through most of her life. On November 1, 1904 she was united in marriage to Arthur H. Cofer at Ness City. They made their home on a farm east of Ransom until they retired and moved to Ransom in 1947. To this union was born three children: Mrs. Irma Combest of Utica and Virgil of Ransom. One daughter died in infancy in 1907. Her husband, Arthur, preceded her in death on December 3, 1967. She was a loving mother and kind to all who knew her. She loved her yard, flowers and garden. In 1932 Mrs. Cofer received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and was a faithful attendant of the Assembly of God Church until her health failed her. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Dale Combest, son Virgil Cofer; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Lynn of Stettler Alberta, Canada and a host of other relatives and friends.
