Description	:	Arthur Henry Cofer, son of Alexander Cambell and Mina Nee Cofer, was born 5 miles northeast of Hoisington, Kansas, September 14, 1882, and after a lengthy illness departed this life at his home in Ransom, Kansas, December 3, 1967, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, 19 days. Mast at Ness City, Kansas. To this union were born 3 children: Mrs. Irma Combest, Utica, Kansas, one daughter died in infancy in 1907, Virgil Cofer, Ransom, Kansas. Arthur, loved his family, he was a loving husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and Katie had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary November 1, 1967. He loved to read his Bible and he attended the Assembly of God Church faithfully until January 13, 1967, when he suffered a stroke and health would not permit him to attend. He lived in Ness County most of his life raising cattle and farming. His Father and Mother, one sister and two brothers preceded him in death. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Katie; daughter, Mrs. Irma Combest, Utica, Kansas; son, Virgil Cofer, Ransom, Kansas; one son-in-law, Dale Combest; one daughter-in-law, Marie Cofer; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Effie (Ferris) Green, Austin, Colorado; four brothers, Harry Cofer, Lawrence, Kansas; Floyd Cofer, Calhan, Colorado, Louis Cofer, Kalamazoo, Michigan; Orville Cofer, Tacoma, Washington; besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dick McCauley, Pastor, Assembly of God Church, Ness City, Kansas, and Rev. William Satterfield, Great Bend, Kansas, at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, December 6, 1967, from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas. Mrs. Dick McCauley and Mrs. Frank Miller sang “Where We’ll Never Grow Old” and “Lily of the Valley”. Miss Wanda Brown accompanied them at the organ. Honorary pallbearers were John Schoeppel, Bill Sidebottom, Jesse Sidebottom, Oscar Young, Myrrl Kanaga, Frank Vermilion. Active pallbearers were Otto Zahn, Keith Wierman, George Brown, jr., Raymond Schweitzer, Frank Miller, Ralph Landwehr. Interment was in the Ransom Cemetery with Fitzgeralds of Ness City in charge.
