Katie Lucinda Brown , daughter of Thomas and Lucinda Van Canon Cromwell, was born April 8, 1899, near Luther in Boone county . She grew to womanhood near her place of birth and attended rural schools. On Feb. 5, 1927, Katie was united in marriage with Floyd Brown in Boone. They were the parents of one son, Dwight. The couple farmed near Coon Rapids. Mr. Brown died in 1950 and Katie moved to live in Jefferson in 1952. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brown died Sunday, April 16, in Jefferson She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Becky Cromwell, Mrs. Madge Dobson and Mrs. Nora Olson. She is survived by her son Dwight and his wife Wanda of Ankeny, two grandsons, Gregory and Bradley Brown; a great-granddaughter, Brandi Brown; and one sister, Jessie Cromwell of Jefferson. Coon Rapids Enterprise April 20, 1978 Page 1 Funeral services were held Wednesday in Jefferson for Mrs. Floyd (Katie) Brown, 79, of Jefferson, who died Sunday, April 16 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Mr. and Mrs. Brown had farmed near Coon Rapids from 1927 until Mr. Brown's death in 1950. In 1952, Mrs. Brown moved to Jefferson where she resided until her death. Surviving are a son, Dwight of Ankeny; two grandsons, Gregory and Bradley; a great granddaughter, Brandi Brown; and a sister, Jessie CromwelL of Jefferson.
