Description	:	Keith Rodney Garcelon, age 88, passed away Tuesday December 23, 2008, following a long battle with diabetes. He was a member of the Humboldt County pioneer Garcelon, Rowley, and Chapman families. He was born October 1, 1920, in Fortuna, California, to the late Robert Lyle and Clara Myrtle (Chapman) Garcelon. He attended the old Bucksport School and graduated from Eureka Senior High School in 1938. Keith joined the US Navy in September 1942 and was Honorably Discharged in December 1945. He was a member of the Humboldt County pioneer Garcelon, Rowley, and Chapman families. He was born October 1, 1920, in Fortuna, California, to the late Robert Lyle and Clara Myrtle (Chapman) Garcelon. He attended the old Bucksport School and graduated from Eureka Senior High School in 1938. Keith joined the US Navy in September 1942 and was Honorably Discharged in December 1945. He was proud of being a combat veteran during WWII. Until his retirement Keith was a long time employee of Nilsen Feed Company in both Eureka and Ferndale, California. Keith had just received special recognition from having been a 50 year member of The Masonic Lodge. He loved to hunt and fish in Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity Counties. Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Elva (Asbell) Garcelon; his parents, Robert Lyle and Clara Myrtle Garcelon; brother, Robert Leland Garcelon; and sisters, Lyla Bernice Gault, Jessie Geraldine Lorensen, and Zona Ernestine Hansen. Keith is survived by a step-son, Jerry Clute; his brother, E. Winston Garcelon; and numerous nieces and nephews, and other friends and relatives. At Keith’s request, there will be no formal service. Memorial contributions may be made to the , or a charity of your choice. Care is under the direction of Pierce Mortuary, Eureka, California.
