Description	:	DAKOTA CITY -- Kenneth F. Schlueter, 78, of Dakota City passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at his residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, with Pastor Don Woods officiating. Burial will be in Ewing Cemetery at Ewing, Neb. Kenneth was born in rural Stanton, Neb., on July 22, 1931, to Esther (Goetsch) and Otto Schlueter. He grew up in the Stanton area and graduated from Stanton High School in 1949. After high school he entered the U.S. Army and served until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 29, 1953. He married Marian Sievers on June 3, 1956, at Madison, Neb. The couple farmed before moving to Omaha, Neb. Kenneth worked for many years on missile sites before moving to Dakota City, where he worked at IBP, and he worked part-time as a salesman for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers. He was a member of the Church of All Nations, American Legion in South Sioux City and the Iowa Forresters. He enjoyed doing his favorite activities including fishing, camping, gardening, building and watching Husker football with his granddaughter, Melinda. Survivors include his wife, Marian; three sons, Kenneth W. Schlueter of Royal, Neb., Donald L. Schlueter of Afghanistan, and his wife, Geralyn of the Philippines, and Larry G. Schlueter of Mansfield, Tenn.; one daughter, Kathryn A. Schlueter of Dakota City; and two grandchildren, Melinda and Charlotte Schlueter. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law; mother-in-law; one sister; and one brother-in-law.
