He was born April 19, 1930, in Wayne, the son of Dorothy Bell (Allen) and Floyd William Knowles. Ken was a 1948 graduate of Williamsfield High School. He owned and operated his family dairy farm with his sons and grandsons. Ken was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Wayne and served in many offices and capacities for as long as he was able. On Oct. 28, 1950, he married Marian A. Biesterveld. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, building ponds and working with his hands and enjoyed the quiet meditation in the glory of God's creation. Ken's quiet example of discipleship to Christ will be greatly missed but long remembered. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marian A. Knowles of Wayne; two daughters, Barbara A. (Mark) McNeilly and Amy S. (Nate) Wilkerson, both of Wayne; three sons, Donald A. (JoAnn) Knowles of Wayne, David G. (Shannon) Knowles of Kinsman and Keith W. (Deloras) Knowles of Wayne; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Jean Woodworth; a brother, Lawrence Knowles; and a grandson, Justin Wilkerson. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Baumgardener Funeral and Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, where there will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Hayes Cemetery in Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Bible Society, P.O. Box 96812, Washington, D.C. 20090-6812.
