Description	:	Kenneth Dolph, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard O. Dolph, south of Strahan, died at their home early Monday morning June 15, after a three weeks illness of heart complications. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Hastings, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. W. M. Schuermann, pastor of the Strahan M. E. Church, assisted by Rev. W. J. Weber, the Hastings pastor. Music was furished by Chas. E. Anderson, A. W. Vaanice, Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Lockabill, and Mrs. Fred H. Priest with Mrs. Charles E. Anderson at the piano. The beautiful flowers testified of the loving remembrance of those far and near. The pall bearers were Fred H. Priest, Benjamin Haroff, R. E. Shaul, Roy Should, Earl Cox, and Albert Phee. Burial was made in the family lot in the South Grove Cemetery. Kenneth Howard Dolph was born on a farm southwest of Hastings, September 14, 1900 and spent practically all his life in Mills County. After finishing the country school, he attended the Hastings High School completing his high school work there. He was popular with his young associates there and took an active parer in the school and church and social activities. He sometimes said that those years were among the happiest of his life. It was here that he took a definite stand for the Christian life. Afterward he went to Council Bluffs and took a course in Hoyle's business college and for a time worked for a Council Bluffs firm in a clerical capacity. When about nineteen years of age he was stricken with rheumatism and other complications which harassed him a good part of the remaining years of his life. His suffering at times were intense. It caused him to abandon commercial pursuits. He never gave up, however. He was very ambitious to get along and was always at work at something if he was able to go at all. He was quick in mechanical things and like to work with machinery, especially electric and was an expert in radio work. The past few months, his health had been much better and he was looking and feeling better than for several years. He started to farming this spring and was running the tractor pretty steady. He was taken sick with with heart complications following one of extremely warm days about three weeks ago and the frail body was too weak to withstand the attack, although he made a gallant fight for recovery. He is survived by his parents, his two sisters, Maxine and Mrs. Geraldine Hambach, besides his grandfather, Oliver Ogden, and other relatives and more than the usual number of friends.
