Description	:	Final rites were held at the Mansfield Funeral Home Wednesday, April 4, at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Edna Jane McFarland, with the Rev. Lewis Conrad officiating. Mrs. Marvin Woodfill accompanied Mrs. Homer Cozad and Mrs. Lorraine Grindle as they sang, "We Are Going Down The Valley" and "Sometime We'll Understand." Caring for the flora offerings were Mrs. Dorothy Braden, Mrs. Ruth Carey, and Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson. Edna June Ogden was born July 14, 1882 in Strahan, Iowa, where she spent the greater part of her life and passed away at the Red Oak Hospital on Easter Day, April 1, at the age of 73 years, eight months, and 18 days. At an early age she became a member of the Strahan Methodist Church, taking an active part in the W.S.C.S. of the church. In August of 1899 she was united in marriage to Howard O. Dolph at Hastings. To this union were born three children, a son, Kenneth Howard who preceded her in death in June 1930, two daughters, Geraldine and Maxine. In February 1932, her husband passed away and she remained on the home farm for the next few years. In April 1940, she was united in marriage to Henry R. McFarland at Armstrong, Iowa. They made their home in Shenandoah until his death in December of 1941 less than one year following their marriage. She had bee in ill health the past 12 years, however never complaining, although she spent her last two years in a wheelchair. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. June Mills of Elliott, spending her summers with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Schwartz of Armstrong. She was a king, loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were a great comfort to her during her declining years of ill health. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Geraldine Mills, Elliott, and Maxine Schwartz of Armstrong; four grandchildren, Kenneth Schwartz of St. Paul, Minnesota, Donald Lawrence Schwartz, and Cheryl Ann Schwartz of Armstrong, and Howard Aubrey Mills of Maryville, Missouri; one brother, Jay E. Ogden of Lexington, Nebraska and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Achenbach, Strahan and Mrs. Frank Hill of Emerson; besides a host of other relatives and friends. Malvern Leader, April 5, 1956, page 10
